Ohio State - Penn State Animated Drive Chart | Where Art Thou, Urban Meyer?

FULL SCREEN VERSION

Animated Drive Chart brought to you by Gameday Depot.

Stats & Impressions
  • Yards Per Play: Ohio State 4.9, Penn State 5.7
  • Plays: Ohio State 60, Penn State 57
  • Ohio State ran more plays for fewer yards than the Nittany Lions. The difference? Big gains. Penn State had three tailbacks--Stephfon Green, Silas Redd, and Curtis Drake---each break off a big run of 38 yards or more, and Derek Moye corralled a 20-yard pass from Matt McGloin.
  • Braxton Miller Watch: 7/17 passing, 83 yards, 1 TD. 18 carries, 105 yards rushing, 1 TD. Miller turned in his typical day, finding great success on the ground but struggling through the air. He has continued avoiding interceptions, which is rare for a young quarterback and bodes well for the future.
  • Ryan Shazier. With Andrew Sweat's absence, the true freshman was thrown into the starting job and played pretty well. He missed a few keys and over-pursued a few Penn State runs, but that was to be expected given his inexperience. Shazier has a bright future, and he hits like a missile. These growing pains will pay off in the future.
  • Will Travis Howard return for a fifth season? The redshirt junior could jump to the NFL Draft, but he would not be picked in the first four rounds. If he returns, can he keep a starting job? Bradley Roby has one cornerback position locked up for the future, and there are a host of youngsters on Howard's heels for the other spot.
  • Bill Livingston, writing in the Plain Dealer, believes an Urban Meyer hire would be especially good for Braxton Miller.

If Urban Meyer becomes the coach at Ohio State next season, quarterback Braxton Miller will win the Heisman Trophy before he is done.

Miller's quickness and improvisation have been the lone spark -- OK, Dan Herron you have helped too -- in this season of injuries and suspensions. But Jim Bollman, the holdover offensive coordinator from the staff of the deposed Jim Tressel, has no clue how to use Miller. When Bollman stumbled onto the pistol formation with Miller and Herron to good effect against Wisconsin, he just as quickly abandoned it.

Ugh, pretty painful drive charts. Oh well, onward to victory.

He’ll most likely have another type of trophy to go along with that Heisman if Urb come. Now dont get me wrong…I have much respect for coach tressel…but if Urban Meyer coaches here we’re talking multiple national championships by the time hes done.

Question about Mike Brewster.

This year, has he played sub par?

Has his 1st round stock dropped into the 2nd round?
