Adolphus Washington Commits, Believes Urban Meyer Will Be His Head Coach
Even before Urban Meyer takes the job, he's pulling in recruits. 5-star defensive end Adolphus Washington has committed to Ohio State and stated that he believes Urban Meyer will be his head coach.

FWIW
Also believes this…
"It’s the education part," Washington continued. "I know all these schools athletically can offer me the same thing. The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you’re giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

sigh. That was smart.

I wonder if Meyer being hired might re-open some of the commits to being recruited again.
Would be hilarious to see a few Hoke guys reverse their decisions.

lol true. It would be good karma considering he pretty much gets a freebie over OSU his first year (not to say its guaranteed but, well, let’s be realistic)…knowing full well that if OSU hadnt had tattoogate OSU would have completely buried michigan again.

yep, there were at least a couple prospects I remember that decommitted from OSU (or OSU had close to a soft commit) and went to play for Hoke.

Awesome
awesome, awesome, awesome.
With Urban coming here, maybe we start bringing in the classes that are as top heavy as SC’s, Florida’s, Bama’s, and Texas. Granted we always have great recruiting class, but we don’t see Ohio State’s name consistently at the top of “ranked” players.
I personally think there’s too mcuh stock put into high school rankings, they don’t tell us if a guys going to pan out or be a great player, ala Sabino vs say… Troy Smith, but hey, it can’t hurt.
If I’m not mistaken, there was a piece (either on ATO or an earlier SBN OSU blog) correlating the arbitrary stars next to recruits names to actual collegiate football program success.
But I’m with you, I’ve never bought an incredible amount into it. Definitely can’t hurt though, as you said.

I'd be interested to see that
But it depends on how they quantify “collegiate football program success.” Clearly, there are players on great teams that are busts while there are superstars on terrible teams.
Clemson is kind of an example of that. They seem to always haul in some Top 10 guy, but they continue to be middle of the pack. Florida State of the last 10 years too.
* not saying one guy changes a program
But from a incentive standpoint of choosing a Clemson over say, a Florida. You just always see some of the same mediocre programs getting decent classes.
So your 3 and 4 star recruits are the sillies….
Quick! Don’t let Washington sign a letter of intent!
I think you’ve misread the study. The 5-stars correlate to high draft picks most often once size is accounted for. There are more raw 3 and 4-star first round picks, but there are about 87 times the amount of 3-star or higher recruits than 5- star ones, who only “make up a little more than one percent of all Division I-A signees every year.”
I just hope the recruiters from OSU are more concerned with winning games at this level than having their rivals.yahoo.com 5-stars go high in the draft.

Oh no doubt they will. Just wait and see the type of talent he can pull in here.

I love the genius of bringing in Meyer, considered to be an offensive mastermind, while keeping Fickell around. That way, you don’t lose any defensive commits who were pulled in by Fick’s energy/enthusiasm and desire to play in our unique system, while injecting a whole new energy into the offensive side of the ball, making us ridiculously attractive to any skill position player lucky enough to get a scholarship.
