Chris Carter Update
Ohio State's 2011 recruiting class is complete, except for offensive guard Chris Carter (Cleveland JFK). Carter was arrested Tuesday and spent Signing Day Eve in a jail cell for suspicion of misdemeanor sexual imposition.
The highly-touted John F. Kennedy High School offensive lineman was arrested Tuesday and suspected of fondling as many as eight girls while pretending to measure them for JROTC uniforms. Cleveland Police said a 15-year-old girl told officers that Carter, 18, took her out of her classroom and into a room behind the JFK auditorium and told her he needed to measure her for the uniform.
Wednesday night, Carter was released from jail, and his lawyer told the Plain Dealer that he would not be charged.
The lawyer for John F. Kennedy High School offensive lineman Christopher Carter said he was told by detectives that Carter would not be charged with a crime following accusations that he fondled several girls at his high school.
Attorney Harvey Bruner said this morning he expected that Carter would be able to fulfill his life's dream and sign with Ohio State University today, since Carter was released from jail Wednesday night.
Carter has not signed with Ohio State, but according to Carter's lawyer, they have been given the number of the investigating detective and will be kept up to date on the situation.
The Plain Dealer contacted the prosecutor's office after speaking with Carter's lawyer, and their official position is that the investigation is ongoing and waiting on interviews with the possible victims.
"The investigation is going forward, and Carter may be charged," city spokeswoman Maureen Harper said. "Detectives were unable to interview the victims in the case because school was closed on Wednesday. The investigation is not over."
Ohio State is unable to comment on any potential recruit until they have signed their letters-of-intent. No decision will likely be made on Carter until the investigation is complete.
We've stayed deliberately quiet on the issue, and we're going to remain that way until more information is released. But if the original report is accurate and Carter is charged, there is no way he ever steps foot on campus as a football player at Ohio State.

Take his offer away, please.
Of course his lawyer says he’s a great guy. I know we are thin at OLine but you don’t make this guy a Buckeye right now. If we didn’t give the younger Torrence a chance you don’t give this guy a chance. If he signs I’ll be very very disappointed. Just ignore him. Just another 3 star lineman.
