"This year marks the 50th anniversary of The Ohio State University's undefeated 1961 championship season -- a distinctive milestone that provides a source of inspiration for a program steeped in tradition and rooted in pride. The 2011 Nike Pro Combat system of dress design for the Buckeyes harkens back to that team, whose offensive power lived in its backfield, led by the 6'0, 227 pound All-American fullback, Bob Ferguson. The Heisman runner-up was a power runner and contributed immensely to the team's noteworthy speed, aggression and smarts. This uniform acknowledges the dominance of the 1961 team and will deliver an undeniable motivation for the current Buckeyes when they face off against Wisconsin on October 29. "

I’m sick of these marketing ploys under the guise of “Honoring the Past.”

It’s better than Nike saying “Fuck it, you’re a wearing a black Pro-Combat jersey because blah blah kids blah black blah edgy cool black blah blah.” At least we look like Ohio State still.

It wouldn’t be that bad if they just made a Pro-Combat version of our current uniform. Keeping intact our look, just adding the new technology gimmicks. Hell, they’d probably sell more product that way too.

This is the closest they've gotten
and they at least got the helmets right for that year.
Title given to hide the pic.

That’s for teams like Purdue, Fresno State, Oklahoma State etc. They get the new jersey style/cut but aren’t a brand enough for Nike to waste their time by making a Pro-Combat production for. I’m pretty sure we are the only program to have 3 Pro-Combat uniforms. Which is kind of cool.
